I had to share this proud moment as a mom. My 9-year-old has been opening up to me a lot lately. She tells me everything from what’s going on at school to how she feels about her friendships and even what makes her happy or nervous. Honestly, it feels like I’ve unlocked a secret level of parenting! It makes me so happy to know that she trusts me and feels comfortable enough to share her world.
I know there will be tougher times ahead (hello, teenage years), but for now, I’m enjoying every conversation and laugh we share. If anyone else has been through this, I’d love to hear how you keep communication flowing as you get older!
I love this so much! It’s the best feeling when they start sharing their little (and not so little) worlds with you. My 12 year old son started doing this around the same age suddenly, I wasn’t just mom but the person he confided in about school drama and even his fears. The key for us was staying open without being too pushy. I’d ask about his day but I’d also let him bring things up when he was ready. It’s so rewarding, but yeah, brace yourself, those teen years can throw a curveball!
